Churchtown Roadrunners Notes Week Ending 12/8/18

We’ve had an extremely busy and fruitful weekend on the race front kicking off last Thursday evening when a big gang headed to the Mt Hilary AC Lombardtown 5 Mile.  All our roadrunners clocked pb’s on the night which is a fantastic achievement and testament to the training we have been putting in during the warm summer evenings.  A special mention to Ralph De Kramer and John Breen who ran their first race as Roadrunners on the night, congratulations guys.  Friday evening Eoin Butler headed to Mitchelstown for the Galtee Runners GR8 clocking a blistering time, another great result for a man who was just home from his holidays, well done Eoin.  Sunday morning Heather O’Brien was in Fermoy for the Blackwater Triathlon finishing first in her Age Category and 5th Overall Female, another fantastic achievement for her first summer competing in triathlons.  Sunday afternoon Liscaroll AC held their annual Open Sports, we had competitors in many different races but the applause goes to Mike Browne who finished second in the Mens Senior 1500m to Margie O’Connor and team who finished second in the mixed relay with Catherine Hanlon and Martina Moloney’s team finishing third.

This Friday evening Liscarroll AC are holding their annual 10k race with the addition this year of a 5k race along a similar route.  With a distance to suit all our members this will be a great stepping stone to our own 5 mile race the following week.  Limerick Country Club are holding Leg #9 of the Ballyhoura Active Series also this Friday evening.  There is a 10k at Curraghchase near Kilcornan, Co Limerick on Saturday.  There’s a 5k in Carrignavar on Tuesday 21st.  As usual we will car pool to these races so please keep an eye on our social media accounts for details.

If there are any members who are hoping to target a specific race over the next few months, please do not hesitate in asking our Club Captains or any of our more experienced members for help and guidance.
