Buttevant RC Club Notes
Last weekend was a very busy weekend for our club with members taking part in a variety of races.
For us we had a record breaking 26 club members out running at the weekend both nationally and internationally.
First up was the 2nd race of the Doneraile Park 5K Series on Saturday, 24th Feb. Well done to Joanne, Niamh, Ann, Karen, Danielle, Anne, Martina & Hillary on the day. Great running by everyone and some impressive times achieved on the day, along with some fantastic PB’s. All the hard work training is really showing for these girls.
Second race of the weekend was also in Doneraile Park on Saturday. This was a Charity Fundraiser 5K in aid of Fiona Doyle. Great running by Mary Shinnick on the day.
First up on Sunday, 25th Feb was Brendan Flanagan, who ran in the 2018 Malta Marathon. Brendan is no stranger to marathons with Malta being his 17thmarathon but it was his first race in the Buttevant colors and there was great excitement to see how he got on. Well done from all of us in Buttevant RC and welcome to our club Brendan. Delighted to have you running with us and look forward to having you as part of Buttevant RC.
Also on Sunday 16 members of the club took part in the Adare 10k. Well done to Jack, Tadhg, Ed, Katherine, James, Georgina, Noreen, Garry, Janet, Caitriona, Maire, Betty, Paula, Maria and Marie. This is a hugely popular race in the racing calendar with over 700 runners taking part on the day. Fantastic running by everyone, some great times achieved on the day despite the cold temperatures and windy conditions. Special mention to Caitriona, James, Paula & Maria, who ran their first 10k on Sunday. Not only was it Caitriona’s first 10k, it was also her very first race so well done on a fantastic race, more to come from Caitriona I’m sure. It was also Tadhg’s first race with Buttevant RC, the great time recorded on the day. Some very happy faces at the end of this race.
A huge thank you to all our supporters who came along to cheer on our runners over the weekend. It was much appreciated.
Overall very positive weekend for the club.
