Buttevant RC Club Notes Weekending 13/05/18

Buttevant RC notes

Race Update:

Well after all the organizing and planning the night is nearly here and our race is this Friday night. Excitement levels are high within the club ahead in anticipation of the race.

I want to acknowledge the phenomenal work done by club members in preparation for our race and to say we couldn’t be prouder is an understatement. So many have supported us in making this race happen and their support & hard work is greatly appreciated.

The final presentations & finishing touches are being worked on and we are excited to seeing everyone in Buttevant Friday night.

Last Thursday night instead of training, 20 of us gathered to do a litter pick on the race route in advance of the race.  Great work was done on the night with over 20 bags of litter being gathered.  Thanks to everyone who came along to help out.

Thanks you to everyone who has sponsored our race, to those who volunteered to steward, to those who are helping out in supplying refreshments and helping out on the night.  Your time and your support is greatly appreciated by all of us in the club.

Thank you as well to Ballyhoura Active for the support & guidance in organizing the race.

Well Done:

Well done to those who represented the club last weekend and a busy weekend it was.

Friday night saw 11 of our runners head to Galbally for the 2nd race of the Ballyhoura Active Series which was hosted by Mooreabbey Milers in memory of the late Michael ‘Curley’ Cunningham. A beautiful evening, a great race with fantastic hospitality afterwards.

Well done to Garry, Karen, Jack, Janet, James, Ed, Laura, Martina, Betty, Katherine and Marie

Saturday saw Betty, Tadgh, Paul and Katherine take part in various Darkness Into Light events.

Ciara O’Keeffe took part in The Lakes of Killarney Half Marathon and great running by her on the day.

Sunday took us to Bweeng for the Bweeng Trail Blazers 5k and 10k with over 600 runners taking part.  Well done to Helen, Betty and Martina who did marvelous times on a very fast 5K course.

Also well done to Paul, Jack, James and Marie who took part in the 10k.

To everyone else who was out doing training runs over the weekend, well done.

Upcoming Events:

Best of luck to everyone running the Buttevant 4 mile this weekend.
