Churchtown Road Runners Ac Club Notes Week Ending 10/6/2018

Races
Last Friday evening Kilfinane AC hosted leg #5 in the Ballyhoura Active Series with their 4-mile race. Congratulations to all our Roadrunners especially to Mike running his first four-mile race as a Roadrunner and to Anita and Lisa on their pb’s. Thank you to Kilfinane AC for a well organised event and hospitality. Didn’t our new club t-shirts look well.

Congratulations to all our Roadrunners who ran the inaugural Doneraile AC 5km this morning. A massive shout out to our 5k2Bers Liam, Aisling and Eileen who completed their first 5km race and to club friend Dave Hanlon who came second. Huge compliments and congratulations to our neighbours Doneraile AC who held a fantastically run event. Great support and music all the way around. Lovely spread afterwards. The fabulous morning added to a great atmosphere.
This evening our new neighbouring club Mt Hilary A.C. host the MMRA race on Mt Hilary near Banteer. We are stewarding st the BHAA Grant Thornton 5k in Cork city. On Friday evening Bilboa AC host leg #6 of the Ballyhoura Active Series with their 5k and 10k races in Cappamore. Saturday evening Ballyclough Harbour Festival are holding their annual 5k. We will as usual try to carpool to these races so please keep an eye on our social media for details.

Churchtown National School
Last Friday morning Pauline and Brian on behalf of the club made a presentation to the National School of ‘PE Equipment’ from the proceeds of a cake sale held last year. We were delighted to hear that the children have already made use of and enjoyed them in the recent spell of good weather.

Summer Social/Trip Away
Due to the weekend of 14th July clashing with a lot of other events for our members we have changed the date and venue for our summer club trip away. The new event is the Cahir Half Marathon and Relay on Saturday 7th July. Kicking off a 2 pm, runners have the option of the half marathon or the two person relay with each runner covering 6.5 miles. We will be hiring a bus and stopping for food and beverages on the way home.

The Churchtown 5 Mile
Like last year we are delighted to be hosting the final race of the Ballyhoura Active Series with our 5 mile road race on Friday 24th August at 7pm. This year we have introduced new prizes for the Course Record and Team Event.

5k 2 Better
Our 5k2B programme continues every Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm meeting with our usual group beside the playground.

Training
We have introduced a morning run at 6.30am Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on a trial basis for the next few weeks, meeting at the usual place. Regular training continues every Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm and Sunday at 10am, meeting near the playground at the GAA ground. If there are any members who are hoping to target a specific race or time during the spring and summer please do not hesitate in asking our Club Captains or any of our more experienced members for help and guidance.
