Churchtown Roadrunners AC Club Notes Week Ending 11th of March

Last Sunday the MMRA held their first trail race at Ballinaboola, congratulations to club members Heather, Pauline & Neville on running, climbing, clambering, jumping and wading their way round, albeit a very enjoyable morning which hasn’t deterred either of them to do more.
Unfortunately, we are unable to field a team for the County Road Championships in Castlelyons next Monday 19th March, this is mainly due to it falling on the same week as the Mallow 10 where we have a number of our members entered.  Our neighboring club Liscarroll AC are holding their annual Easter 5k in Doneraile on Saturday 31st March, where we plan to have a number of entries.
Future Roadrunner
Congratulations to club members Karen and Mike O’Halloran and big brother MJ on the safe arrival of Penny last week.  Another future Churchtown Roadrunner.
Ballyhoura Active Series Launch
Cathy O’Sullivan and Catherine Hanlon were on hand to represent us at the launch of the 2018 Ballyhoura Active Series in Bruff last week.  We are delighted to confirm that the ‘Churchtown 5 Mile’ will return this year on Friday 24th August.
We are holding our Easter raffle again this year and we will be following the same format as last year with regard to club kits, Margie has cards for anyone who hasn’t received one yet.  We are introducing a technical club t-shirt this year, it will be the same design as our club singlet.  Our annual Easter club social outing is bowling in Cork on Easter Sunday, Brian will have further details next week.
We are currently running a six week mentoring session where one of our more experienced members will be taking over training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for our new and returning members.  If there are any members who are hoping to target a specific race or time during the spring and summer please do not hesitate in asking our Club Captains or any of our more experienced members for help and guidance.  Our 5K2Better programme will be returning in May.

Please do not hesitate in joining us for any of our training sessions, obligation free. For more information please contact us directly through our Facebook page. Training continues every Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm and Sunday at 10am, meeting near the playground at the GAA ground. Check us out on Facebook:
