Churchtown Roadrunners AC Club Notes week ending 01/07/18

Races

We had a busy weekend again on the races front with Roadrunners running FridaySunday and Monday.  On Friday evening Nora Buckley and Catherine Hanlon braved the heat to run the Millstreet AC Willie Neenan 5 Mile in Millstreet.  On Sunday morning Catherine Hanlon was out again for her second race in 36 hourswhen she ran the Glantane Community Council 4 Mile in Glantane village.  On Monday evening our Roadrunners were greeted by a balmy 26 degrees at 8pm (is this really Ireland) when we we were out in force for the Dromcollogher Festival 4 Mile. Congratulations to all but a special mention to Maggie O’Sullivan and Eileen Guiney who ran their first 4 miler as Roadrunners.  The Ballyhoura Active Series now takes a break until Friday 17th August when Limerick Country Club will host leg #9 followed by our own race leg #10 on Friday 24th August.

This Saturday we have our highly anticipated Summer Social/Trip Away at the Cahir Half Marathon and Relay.  Kicking off a 2pm, runners will be contending with the hottest part of the day but the organising committee have informed us that there are extra water stops, sponges and hoses en route.  Showers and changing facilities are available afterwards at the local GAA club.  The bus will be leaving from the GAA car park at 11am sharp for athletes and travelling supporters!  Music, singing voices, and cooler boxes welcome.
