Churchtown Roadrunners AC Club Notes Week Ending 19/8/2018

The Churchtown 5 Mile

It is only days away and excitement is building for our race this Friday evening.  There is a lot of buzz around the Course Record Prize and Team Prize events with the promise of runners from not only the local clubs but as far away as Co Kerry.   We are delighted to announce that we have a prize fund of over €1000 for the race which is thanks to our very generous sponsors no one more so than our main sponsor AV Pound, who are on board for their second year.  AV Pound is local company based in Mallow who strive to support local community events and initiatives.  We are very gracious for their support.

Online entries for the event is now open and a link to register can be found on our Facebook page.

We had a great turnout and results at the Liscarroll AC 10k & 5k last Friday evening with a host of pb’s. To top the evening off Martina Moloney was 3rd Female in the 5k, knocking minutes off her pb and Catherine Hanlon won her Age Category in a very competitive 10k again knocking minutes off her pb. A special mention to our training buddies David Hanlon and Clare Sexton who finished 2nd in the 10k and 5k respectively. Congratulations all and well done.

This Friday evening we are holding the leg #10 and final event of the Ballyhoura Active Series.  We will be out in great numbers, could all members insure to wear their club colours, beg, borrow, steal! Sunday is the renewal date for The Boston Scientific Clonmel Half Marathon and Clonakilty 10 mile and 4 mile.   As usual we will car pool to these races so please keep an eye on our social media accounts for details.

If there are any members who are hoping to target a specific race over the next few months, please do not hesitate in asking our Club Captains or any of our more experienced members for help and guidance.

Regular training continues every Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm and for the summer weekend runs are Saturday at 9am and Sunday at 10am, meeting near the playground at the GAA ground.  When demand requests it we also have an early morning run at 6.30am which is notified on our social media accounts.

Please do not hesitate in joining us for any of our training sessions, obligation free. For more information please contact us directly through our Facebook page. Check us out on Facebook: or instagram @churchtownroadrunnersac
