Churchtown Roadrunners AC Club Notes Week Ending 04/02/18

Last Sunday saw the renewal of the ever popular John TreacyDungarvan 10  Mile, where we had no less than ten Roadrunners taking part, which was a fantastic achievement for our small club for the first high profile race of the year.  Conditions were near perfect for a spring race and as always West Waterford AC held a superbly well run event, it’s just one of those races that every runner should put on the bucket list.  Congratulations to Lisa, Kieran, Anita, Katie and Margie who completed their first 10 milers and far surpassed their expectations on the day and to Catherine, Derry, Pauline and Martina who secured pb’s.  Well done to all.

This Saturday Kilmallock AC are hosting the first Ballyhoura Trail run this year in Ballyorgan.  The 10k route will follow a river for the most part so should be enjoyable but trail runners are advised as terrain is slippy due to the recent weather.  We will as usual carpool to this event.  The last weekend of this month North Cork AC are holding another 5k at Doneraile Park on the Saturday and the Adare 10k is on the Sunday, the first Sunday in March is the Duhallow AC 10 mile which has now been switched to Newmarket so our training will focus on these races as a number of our members are targeting them.  Entries have re opened for the Duhallow AC 10 mile so get entering to avoid disappointment.  If there are any members who are hoping to target a specific race or time during the spring and summer please do not hesitate in asking our Club Captains or any of our more experienced members for help and guidance.
