Churchtown Roadrunners Notes Week Ending 5/08/18

On Thursday evening the newly formed club Mt Hilary AC are holding a 5 mile race in Lombardstown.  This route looks very promising being fast and relatively flat.  On Friday evening Galtee Runners AC are holding their annual 8k race, the Mitchelstown GR8.  As usual we will car pool to these races so please keep an eye on our social media accounts for details.

Friday week 17th August our neighbours Liscarroll AC are holding their annual 10k race with the addition this year of a 5k race along a similar route.  With a distance to suit all our members this will be a great stepping stone to our own 5 mile race the following week.  If there are any members who are hoping to target a specific race over the next few months, please do not hesitate in asking our Club Captains or any of our more experienced members for help and guidance.

The Churchtown 5 Mile

Like last year we are delighted to be hosting the final race of the Ballyhoura Active Series with our 5 mile road race on Friday 24th August at 7pm. This year we have introduced new prizes for the Course Record and Team Event. We are delighted to announce Timmy O’Brien Agri, Churchtown, McDonals/Apache Pizza, Buttevant and Brosnan Lubricants, Liscarroll as some of our very generous race sponsors.

We are delighted to announce that we have a prize fund of over €1000 for the race which is thanks to our very generous sponsors. Online entries for the event is now open and a link to register can be found on our Facebook page.

Summer Activity Day

Due to the success of last year we decided to return to the Aqua Park at Ballyhass Lakes again for our summer activity day on Bank Holiday Monday.  Conditions were perfect for water sport and the addition of a few new obstacles was great fun.  Some of us have need to polish our ‘monkey bar’ skills for next year but this year we will give the gold medals to Neville and Ruby Sweetnam.

Regular training continues every Tuesday and Thursday at 8pm and for the summer weekend runs are Saturday at 9am and Sunday at 10am, meeting near the playground at the GAA ground.  When demand requests it we also have an early morning run at 6.30am which is notified on our social media accounts.

Please do not hesitate in joining us for any of our training sessions, obligation free. For more information please contact us directly through our Facebook page. Check us out on Facebook: or instagram @churchtownroadrunnersac
