Weekly Running Roundup
Friday night saw Grange-Fermoy AC host their 4 mile road race in Ballyhooly The race attracted 179 runners including 3 from The club. The race continued Tony McMahons streak of winning his category which he did by finishing 20th overall in an excellent time of 24:55 one of his fastest times of the year. Simon and Mike Reynolds also took part with Simon finishing in a time of 28:28 and father Mike finishing in a time of 32:04 which saw him finish 3rd in his age category.
The other main race that Club runners were involved in was the Dingle Full and half marathon which was run last Saturday. Frequently referred to as one of Ireland’s most Scenic road races as most runners know this also very often describes a course that can be challenging to say the least. This did not stop a number of local runners taking part in both races. Liz Leonard completed the marathon in a time of 3:46:55 finishing 15th out of 163 in the ladies category. Patrick Roche completed in the marathon finishing in a time of 4:43:19 an excellent effort coming just 7 days after he completed the Craughwell Marathon. In the half marathon Michaela Moloney finished in a time of 1:58:54. John Lynch completed the race in a time of 2:12:41 with Margaret Atalla finished in a time of 2:36:41. In Completing the race for the second year in a row Margaret was knocking an impressive 14 minutes of her previous time. Angela Dunne, sister of Michaela finished in 2:41:20, Well done to all of them.
Training
The club trains four times a week Monday and Wednesday and Fridays meeting @ the side car park of the Church @ 7 pm for the Summer months and 10 am on Sundays outside Deebert House Hotel. Training for our Junior athletes on Tuesdays is finished until September. Anyone new to running or wishing to get back into running is welcome on Fridays where there will be experienced members of the club @ hand to offer advice and encouragement. All ages and levels of experience are welcome
