Kilmallock AC Club Notes Week Ending 4/3/2018

Limerick County 4 Mile Road Championship

The weather conditions which lead to the wipe-out of most sporting events last weekend had the same disruptive effect on our own running and training plans. It did however give us extra time for the planning of the County 4 Mile Road championships which we host this Sunday 11th of March. This is our first time staging this event in our recent history. The event has been held in Bruff and hosted by An Bru AC for the last 3 years on a fast flat course and we believe our own course will prove to be as popular with the competing athletes as that course was. The race will start Sarsfield Street and will take a anti-clockwise route around the town taking in the Glenfield, Green and Chareville roads before finishing near Blossom’s Gate. Last year all four of our teams received medals and several of our athletes received individual medals of all colours. Hopefully we will see more of the same the same this year, even with the calibre of athletes taking part. This is the first major event hosted by the club since the Munster 4 Mile Road Championship a number of years ago and we hope the people of the town turn out to view the race. The women’s race starts @ 1pm with the men’s following @ 1:45. The pre race meeting point will be the GAA complex and this will also serve as our base for post race refreshments and medal presentation. We would like to thank Kilmallock GAA for their generous assistance.
