Gold rush for Larry
A busy week on the roads and trails for the mooreabbey milers.
County Track & Field Championships
Larry O’Grady was busy competing in 6 events at the county track and field championships held in
Templemore Co.Tipperary last Sunday. Larry racked up 5 gold medals in the hammer, the shot put, weight for distance, high jump and the discus in which he achieved a PB of 27.22. Larry also took a silver medal in the long jump. Well done Larry great results over several disciplines.

Morrison BMW 4 Mile
Marie O’Shea, Ewan Cunningham and Mary Pyke took part in the Morrison BMW 4 mile in Clonmel last Wednesday night. Marie was 3rd lady with Ewan taking a top 10 position and Mary was in flying form following on from her county medal success the previous Sunday.
Ballyhoura Active Series
Willie O’Donoghue competed in the first race of the Ballyhoura Active Series last Friday night this was also the last race of the Michal Rejmer 5 miles series hosted by Dooneen AC at The Country Club in Limerick. Willie finished 1st in his category in a time of 30.52.
Kevin Lenihan toed the line for the Holy Family School 5K in Doneraile last Saturday morning. In mighty form Kevin crossed the finish line in 3rd place.
MMRA Summer League
On a lovely sunny Sunday morning for the first race of the MMRA Summer League we headed to the lovely seaside town of Clonakilty in Co Cork, Castlefreke Forest Recreation area to be exact. The recreation area of Castlefreke is a collection of woodlands close to Rathbarry village in West Cork. This is a lovely 6.7k run that takes in trail, road and beach. We had 2 men finish in the top 10
Tom Blackburn was 3rd overall followed by Willie O’Donoghue in 8th Sarah Fitzpatrick was first lady and hot on her heels was Aoife Courtney second lady. Great running also from Patrick Hartigan who finished in the top half of the race.
Sonia O’Sullivan 10 Mile
The newly renamed ‘Cobh 10 Mile Road Race’ hit the streets of Cobh on Sunday the 29th April. The race was organised in aid of The Irish Cancer Society. With over 1000 people taking to the start line our very own Mary Pyke and Marie O’Shea took up their positions. The ladies took in the beautiful surroundings on a testing course with some challenging hills crossing the finish line together. Well done ladies.
We would also like to wish good luck to all who are participating in the Ballyhoura mountain running festival this weekend.

‘The Michael ‘Curley’ Cunningham 4 mile’
**8 days To Go** We at Mooreabbey Milers are looking forward to welcoming you all to Galbally on Friday 11th of May at 7.30pm for the Michael ‘Curley’ Cunningham 4 mile run.

Registration online will remain open until Thursday 10th of May at 11.55pm, registration will also be open on the night in the community hall Galbally from 6pm to 7.15pm, €12. Race begins at 7.30pm sharp at ‘Jack Ryan’s cross’ on the Galbally to Garryspillane road. On the night the race will be chip timed by Premier Chip Timing, safety marshals will be on the route and light refreshments will be served in the community hall afterwards. A perpetual cup will be presented to the overall winner of the race on the night in Curleys honour along with cash prizes for the first 3 men and women. A donation will be made to
the oncology unit of CUH in Curleys name as per his wishes.
Juveniles train each Monday night at 7pm and each Thursday night at 6pm in the community field in Galbally. Juveniles aged 7 and upwards are welcome to attend but must be registered with the club for insurance reasons. Registration forms are available at training each night.
Adults train on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7pm in the community field in Galbally. New members always welcome. Adults also do hill/mountain and trail training, become a registered member and get the added benefit of being included if the club’s watsapp to keep up to date with training/races and events.

C25K/Get In Shape/Keep Fit
*Here comes the summer**Get in shape or keep fit*. Tricha Blackburn runs tailored made running classes every week. Whether your looking to do your first 5km, to improve your 5km to a 7km or looking to hit the 10km mark everyone is welcome. This takes place each Monday night at 7pm in the community field in Galbally.
